OFTP Wins Awards at 68th Annual Pacific Orchid Expo

68th POE Award WinnerThe San Francisco Orchid Society presented “2020: Orchids in Focus” – the 68th annual Pacific Orchid Exposition February 20th – 23rd at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. More than 150,000 gorgeous, unusual and rare orchids were on display and for sale by local and international vendors.

Orchids for the People, located in McKinleyville since 2001, entered a large specimen plant for judging and earned 5 awards. The orchid plant, Encyclia polybulbon, is over 30 years old and grows in their intermediate temperature greenhouse. At the time of showing, the plant measured 5’ x 3’ and had 2140 flowers. Awards earned were: Best Cattleya Alliance in Show, Best Specimen Plant in Show, Cultural Excellence, Best Cattleya Alliance by Commercial/Open Exhibitor, Best Orchid Shown for Foliage.
