In our humble opinion, one of the prettiest and showiest of the "Encyclia group" (it's been called Encyclia, Prosthecea, and Panarica in the last decade so take your pick of names!). The flowers, which are 4"+, are without a doubt some of the largest flowers of the group. Each 18-24" flower spike will have 8-14 flowers that open simultaneously. Plus they have a nice, light fragrance in the evening!

A beautiful, medium-sized orchid that produces long chains of small, lantern-shaped creamy white fragrant flowers. The foliage is also interesting. If you grow it shady the plant stays dark green. If you grow it with a little sun, the leaves turn orange from the tip.

This is a hybrid between 2 tropical butterworts, P. emarginata x P. laueana. Produces beautiful .5" shiny purple flowers with darker purple veins. The leaves turn dark green (kinda blue-green) in bright sun and have a darker upturned margin! Flowers randomly year-round and produces lots of baby plants around the base of mature plants spring-fall.
Care: must be kept moist to wet year-round. Rainwater or filtered water is mandatory for the long-term health of the plant. Cool-hot temps and bright light-direct sun. The brighter its environment, the pinker the leaves become!

I'm not even going to try to describe these flowers because it won't do them justice! I'll let the pictures do the talking. I will tell you they measure just over 1" in length. Here at the nursery we just refer to them as "the alien cockroaches". Weird and eyecatching and at the same time very pretty! Scaphosepalums are cool! The flowers are weird, they bloom a lot, and the spikes last over a year. And it flowers year round! What more could you want? S. beluosum flowers are about the size of a dime but are worth bending over and getting close to view. Hairy and fanged, the flowers have a gold background with brown markings and a red/purple column. The spikes bloom successively in flushes so it appears the side of the pot or basket is covered in tiny alien insects! Each spike may produce over 30 flowers over its lifespan.When given the proper amount of light, new leaves have a purple blush which fades to green as they mature,

We imported these plants 6 months ago but held on to them to make sure the plants were healthy and strong (they are!).Small is an understatement when describing this species! Commonly called the millipede orchid because of its growth habit. This species hugs its growing surface looking for any crack or crevice to follow. The flowers are nearly identical to S fragrans (but without fragrance) but the sturdy, succulent leaves are about 1/2 the size (1/4" long, 1/8" wide)! The plant tends to branch randomly (these plants are already branching).

Each plant is the size of a quarter with tightly overlapping leaves that grow in a single plane to produce what looks like a tiny palm frond. The plants are connected with a 1” long rhizome to form a branching string of plants.
And it has flowers that are as large as the plant itself! Beautiful light pink, crystalline flowers with markings that differ from plant to plant. Flowers for us randomly throughout the year with long-lasting flowers. 2-4 flowers per spike.
These plants need little to no potting media. We throw them in empty baskets, string them through our “wire walls” where we hang our mounted plants, etc. Great for mounting, the parent species both grow on twigs in the wild. Usually, one plant has what looks like a precarious hold on a tiny branch and the rest of the plants are dangling in free space!
Care: These plants like bright-very bright light and intermediate to hot temps. Water often spring-fall and let them dry out between waterings in the winter.
