Begonia

Light Place begonias in a bright area with indirect sunlight, like near a window with a sheer curtain. Direct sunlight can burn their leaves, but they won't do well in a dark corner either. In winter, you may need to provide extra light from a lamp with a full spectrum bulb for about 14 hours per day.

Temperature Keep the temperature between 66–73°F, and don't let it drop below 55°F at night. Keep begonias away from drafty doors and windows.

Humidity Provide a humid environment, but misting is not recommended. Instead, spray the surrounding air.

Watering Water begonias once the top inch of soil is dry, and keep the soil evenly moist. A good rule of thumb is to water every two to four days, but you'll need to water more often when it's hot and dry. Begonias are prone to rotting if they sit in water for too long.

Fertilizing Fertilize begonias once per month with a fertilizer dissolved in water. You can also use a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength at alternate waterings.

Pruning Remove spent flowers to direct energy to new leaves and blooms. Trim away dead leaves to prevent infections.

Soil Choose a potting mix that contains large amounts of organic matter and has excellent drainage. You can mix in some perlite for more drainage.
