We grow lots of intermediate growing orchids! It's a perfect fit for our coastal Northern California weather. Nighttime temps for these plants range from 55°F-62°F and daytime temps from 75°F-85°F.

This plant produces chains of 10-30 very small, bright orange flowers that sit atop the beautiful, shiny, lance-shaped leaves. The overall effect is quite striking! Flowers multiple times a year.

I'm not even going to try to describe these flowers because it won't do them justice! I'll let the pictures do the talking. I will tell you they measure just over 1" in length. Here at the nursery we just refer to them as "the alien cockroaches". Weird and eyecatching and at the same time very pretty! Flowers randomly year-round.Prefers cool-intermediate temps, bright indirect light and regular watering year-round.

Produces 10-15, beautiful quarter-sized, crystalline white flowers per spike that have a red center. These plants are currently large enough to produce multiple flower spikes per season.
Care: Bright indirect light, cool-warm temps with good air movement, regular year-round watering, and light feeding. Protect from exessive summer heat as the plant reacts badly to hot stagnant conditions.

This tiny flowered species is easy to grow with intermediate to warm temps, bright indirect light, and enough water and humidity to prevent it from drying out for long periods of time.
It's a favorite at the nursery for its forking growth pattern that creates an open yet bushy plant.

We imported these plants 6 months ago but held on to them to make sure the plants were healthy and strong (they are!).Small is an understatement when describing this species! Commonly called the millipede orchid because of its growth habit. This species hugs its growing surface looking for any crack or crevice to follow. The flowers are nearly identical to S fragrans (but without fragrance) but the sturdy, succulent leaves are about 1/2 the size (1/4" long, 1/8" wide)! The plant tends to branch randomly (these plants are already branching).

Each plant is the size of a quarter with tightly overlapping leaves that grow in a single plane to produce what looks like a tiny palm frond. The plants are connected with a 1” long rhizome to form a branching string of plants.
And it has flowers that are as large as the plant itself! Beautiful light pink, crystalline flowers with markings that differ from plant to plant. Flowers for us randomly throughout the year with long-lasting flowers. 2-4 flowers per spike.
These plants need little to no potting media. We throw them in empty baskets, string them through our “wire walls” where we hang our mounted plants, etc. Great for mounting, the parent species both grow on twigs in the wild. Usually, one plant has what looks like a precarious hold on a tiny branch and the rest of the plants are dangling in free space!
Care: These plants like bright-very bright light and intermediate to hot temps. Water often spring-fall and let them dry out between waterings in the winter.
Near blooming-size seedlings (6-18 months from blooming) in 4 inch basket. These plants are ready to be transplanted into larger hanging baskets with minimal-no potting media. Bred inhouse, the parents of these babies are both "Wild Type". The flowers have very light lavender-blue petals and sepals with almost ghost-like veins of darker color. Care: prefers intermediate to warm temps, very bright light-direct sunlight and water every 1-3 days spring-fall with a drier winter rest.

This plant has flowers that never truly open. Instead a tiny slit forms in the side of the flower allowing the tiny gnats that pollinate it in. The flowers are dark purple on the outside and gold with purple dots on the inside. The flowers measure just under an inch long and last 6 weeks. Flowers in the late fall.
These plants grow well in cool to warm temps with medium/low light and should not be allowed to dry out completely. We grow ours in bright indirect light which makes the leaves turn purple. When these plants are grown in less light the leaves will remain green and the plant will still flower prodigously.
