Each plant is the size of a quarter with tightly overlapping leaves that grow in a single plane to produce what looks like a tiny palm frond. The plants are connected with a 1” long rhizome to form a branching string of plants.
And it has flowers that are as large as the plant itself! Beautiful light pink, crystalline flowers with markings that differ from plant to plant. Flowers for us randomly throughout the year with long-lasting flowers. 2-4 flowers per spike.
These plants need little to no potting media. We throw them in empty baskets, string them through our “wire walls” where we hang our mounted plants, etc. Great for mounting, the parent species both grow on twigs in the wild. Usually, one plant has what looks like a precarious hold on a tiny branch and the rest of the plants are dangling in free space!
Care: These plants like bright-very bright light and intermediate to hot temps. Water often spring-fall and let them dry out between waterings in the winter.

These plants are often called Grass Orchids (because of the leaves) or Fox Tail Orchids (because of the inflorescence). I like these tiny plants for a number of reasons. They are easy to grow and get large, for a miniature, fast. A specimen-size plant fits easily in a 3.25" pot. Our specimen-size plant produces hundreds of tiny arching inflorescences in flower at the same time! That's thousands of tiny flowers open at the same time!
Care tip: These plants should never dry out completely.
Well-established blooming size plants in 2.25" pots. We got our start growing Masdevallias and Draculas and after nearly 30 years this is still one of my favorites! The pictures tell a better story than I can!These are very compact plants, some people call them miniatures. Leaves are approx. 4-6 inches tall and the sturdy flower spikes are generally a couple of inches taller (tall enough to display the flowers nicely but not so tall as to be susceptible to breakage). The tricolor flowers are dark red on the sides, crystalline white toward the bottom and egg yolk yellow in the throat and tepals. Flowers are approx. 3-4 inches tall, tip to tip. Flowers 2 times a year, winter and summer.Like most Masdevallias, this species prefers cool-intermediate temps, moist and shady growing environment with plenty of air movement. They are particular about their growing conditions but if you have the right environment they grow really fast.

A small, fast-growing plant that flowers repeatedly late fall-spring. Great for terrariums, vivariums, small grow spaces, and anyone who loves minis!
This is a lovely miniature species! Tiny Masdevallia-like flowers that have a light green background with red spots. Rarely seen for sale and is a great addition to any Pleurothallid or cool climate collection.
Care: Best kept on the cool side (but doesn't mind intermediate temps) and moist.

We love this plant! It mats into a specimen in a short time. Flowers several times a year and we call it the "baboon butt" flower for obvious (to me :) reasons. This is a great orchid for vivariums and small growing spaces!
Care: Easy to grow in moderately bright to partial shade conditions. Like to be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Moderate water all year.
Epigeneium nakaharaei. An interesting and easy-to-grow scrambling miniature. Some now consider this species a Dendrobium. Does well in a pot or basket and loves to be mounted. Very lightly fragrant.

Dendrochilums are often called 'grass orchids' for their leaves or 'fox tail orchids' for their beautiful displays of long, many-flowered spikes. D steophyllum is a medium-small (6" tall) sized Dendrochilum with spikes that will carry 40-50 white flowers. They tend to bloom multiple times a year, summer-winter.Care: Cool-warm temps, indirect light, and regular watering, and light feeding year-round.

A new mini hybrid from Orchids For The People. Fast-growing and floriferous. The flowers fit on a quarter but are tall and big enough not to go unnoticed. This plant would make a great addition to any mini, cool growing, or pleurothallid collection! It would also look great mounted or in a vivarium.

This little plant produces beautiful mahogany-red flowers that are large for the size of the plant. Wonderfully fragrant, they smell just like cinnamon oil. Flowers late summer.

15-30 small, fragrant vibrant yellow flowers seem to erupt out of the base of the leaf! This tiny flowered species is easy to grow with intermediate to warm temps, bright indirect light, and enough water and humidity to prevent it from drying out for long periods of time.
It's a favorite at the nursery for its forking growth pattern that creates an open yet bushy plant.
